Google released a new tool to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. You can do it by clicking here. The tool lets the users choose to join the light side or dark side of the force. Choosing their side will change the appearance of the google apps. Once you've picked a side, Google starts updating your apps.

These are the changes you can expect:
  • Gmail gets new backgrounds
  • YouTube's progress bar and volume slider appear as red or blue lightsabers
  • In Google Maps, your position marker becomes either a TIE fighter or an X-Wing
  • There are even more changes to Chrome, Chromecast, Google Translate, Waze, and more.

Google promises not to affect the functionality of their products. But obviously it is going to update your calendar with the upcoming events of Star Wars."Once you choose a side, it may take a few hours for the Force to awaken within all your apps," says Google
According to the statistics, majority are choosing dark side.

The changes will automatically disappear on February 1st. However, Google says this isn't the end of its Star Wars tributes, and promises that there's more to come, including "the Millennium Falcon in all its (virtual reality) glory." To change back the setting click here.
