The HTC One M9 sales will begin in late March, while Samsung will start selling their devices in April. Both devices are premium-tier, expensive propositions, and are unique enough to make choosing between them very easy (if you prefer one's look and features over the other), or very hard (if you like both too much, which is quite understandable!). Neither Samsung nor HTC is willing to ditch the customized Android skin. Samsung has made a point of trimming down the excessive bloat that once characterized its TouchWiz skin, and early indications point to a far simpler and faster interface. HTC, meanwhile, continues its refinements for its Sense 7.0 skin, but now features extensive customization and theming options built right into the software.
