Hike launches Internet-free messaging service - Hike Direct



Now texting doesn't charge as you neither need Message balance nor Mobile Data as Hike introduces it's new exciting feature Hike Direct. Over the last year, Hike has doubled its user base from 35 million to 70 million. Today, in Delhi, the Founder & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Kavin Bharti Mittal announced the launch of a new facility - Hike Direct.

Hike messenger announced the launch of Hike direct, a new messaging platform that allows users to chat, exchange stickers, transfer photos and heavy files of any type without the data connectivity. The messaging service utilizes Wi-Fi Direct technology to establish peer to peer network connection between devices within a 100 meter radius.


The hike direct is very user friendly ,easily understandable & approachable ,To use this service, users simply need to open a chat with a friend and choose Hike Direct from the 3 dot menu on top right of the screen and hike does the rest. Hike automatically pairs up with the other phone and lets you chat and share files with your friends without the internet. Hike claims to offer a speed of 40Mbps during sharing of files between two devices. Users can get this feature by upgrading to the latest version of Hike, version 4.0.6 and above, which is freely available on the Google Play Store. Sadly, Apple and Windows users will have to wait till next year to avail this service.

With plans of a possible fund raise for expansion in the next six months, this Softbank and Tiger Global Investee Company plans to make some part of their stickers offering payable. The company should be launching commerce on their platform with coupons within the next six months, Kavin said at the launch. Messaging, he said, will always be free!
