Huawei P9 smartphone to come in four versions, including a Premium Model With Dual Camera

Huawei is expected to launch four versions of its upcoming flagship smartphone P9, according to a report by VentureBeat. Apart from the standard Huawei P9, the company will also launch are P9 Lite (smaller screen), P9 Max (bigger screen) and a model with better features than P9.

As per the report, the unnamed fourth variant will have a slightly larger display as well as more RAM and internal memory compared to the standard P9. It will also feature a dual-lens 12 MP rear camera unit

In that handset, the additional sensor-lens combo enabled a few neat tricks like post-capture refocus, simulated aperture adjustment, and filter application. On the fourth P9 variant, VentureBeat was told to expect even more unique capabilities, as the concept has been further refined.

According to the report, the new camera setup will be an upgrade to the one introduced last year with Huawei Honor 6 Plus, which provided features like refocusing images after they are taken, simulated aperture adjustment and filters. More features will be introduced to this camera setup with the launch of the fourth version of P9.

The report also revealed that none of these variants will be unveiled at this year's MWC, which is scheduled for late next month. It says that Huawei will instead announce them "several weeks post-MWC," something which is inline with rumors of a March unveiling.

The report adds that the fourth variant can be expected sport "more unique capabilities" than the other three models.

Apart from P9 variants, the report said that none of the Huawei models launching in 2016 will sport a QHD screen. This will mean that the Huawei Nexus 6P will remain to be the only Huawei-made phone to offer QHD resolution.
