Why Essential Phone has so much hype?
After the announcement of the Essential Phone in the code conference. This phone has got alot of hype around the globe as it was built by the the fore father of android Andy Rubin. After ditching Google in 2014 Rubin opened a bakery and returned back to gadgets world and started hardware start up incubator.
Rubin started a start-up called Essential Products and started working on this phone. Now, Essential is worth more than a Billion dollars. Amazon, Tencent, Foxconn etc are the major investors in the start up.

Many of us doesn't know who is Andy Rubin and why are we talking about him. Rubin was the founder of the world's delicious mobile operating system "Android". He is called as the father of Android.
Rubin started working on Android in 2003. After the acquisition of Android by Google in 2005. Rubin became the Vice-President of Android and started working on Android and initially released it in 2008.
What is Essential Phone?
Rubin and his team doesn't like the latest technology and want to take it to the next level. Essential meant to Fix what is wrong with Android and the technology.
To bring the change they released this phone. This Phone comes with high specifications. Few includes Snapdragon 835 and has a bezel-less display. The beauty of the screen is it cuts the camera and the viewing experience is very much better than other bezel-less phones. This Phone has a finger print reader at the back. The 13 MP dual shooter does everything for us.
The phone features a titanium frame and a ceramic back plate that the team says is significantly more durable than the aluminum and glass bodies you get on other handsets. There is no microSD card slot but it comes with a 128 GB on board storage which doesn't require any external storage. Unfortunately, There is no Headphone jack which might be problem for few of us.

How is Essential PH-1 different?
Essential Phone comes with two metal contacts on the back of the phone which attaches extra mods on the phone. Motorola has released Moto Z with moto mods. Essential Phone can connect with external mods with those two metal contacts. Those two metals contacts are actually for giving power to the external mods. The data transmission is actually wireless.
As of now Essential has released 360 degrees camera mod which can record 4k video in 360 degrees and snaps 360 photos. This mod costs around 199$ but if we buy along with the phone this will cost us 50$ for a limited time. Essential has also mentioned that they have a huge line of Mods coming soon.
Is it worth buying?
The unlocked version of Essential PH-1 costs us 699$ which a very good deal to buy such a smartphone with such huge specifications. This smartphone come with clean stock android. The Brilliant bezel-less display, Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB of RAM. It packs a dual 13MP shooter on the back and a 8 MP shooter on the front. On the other hand, The problem with the body is it can easily get finger print marks on the back which makes it look little untidy and no headphone jack. Rubin has promised to release the software updates for 2 years for the smartphone and security updates for three years.

Andy Rubin and his team are trying to connect everything with a smartphone. They are opting the fresh, clean and updated stock android. The device is beautifully designed with edge-to-edge display makes it feel more premium. The device is 7 mm slim and weighs only 185 Grams. The device is fully packed gadget which can take external mods and works better than many devices with such specifications.
