Is Google working on Android N?

Has Google started working on Android N. The answer is YES!! Google recently released it's first ever tablet, the Pixel C. The Google Pixel C team participated in the reddit's AMA session. They discussed various things like why they chose the name Pixel C and they also teased the next version of the Android operating system.

What strikes this as odd is because the Android 6.0 Marshmallow hasn't even rolled out to most smartphones yet, and now a new Android version was hinted at to be under development already. Nevertheless, a huge update might mean a ton of new features, hopefully with a lot less bugs at launch too. Andrew Bowers, a member of Pixel C team said that Google is working on a new split screen functionality for the upcoming "Android N". While the company tried its best to make this feature available during the Pixel C launch, but due to some reason it was postponed for Android “N.”

Bowers, while responding to a question about whether or not there were any additions to Android that the team wanted to implement before the Pixel C started hitting the shelves, said "We're working on lots of things right now for N that, of course, we wish we had, you know, yesterday. But we'd spoil the surprise of N if we shared all of them". The team also confirmed that Multi-window support is also on it's way. Chrome Glen Murphy, Product Manager for Pixel C said "We're working hard on a range of enhancements for Android in this form-factor – there are many things, like multiwindow, that we've been spending a lot of time on – hopefully we can share more about this soon."

We can expect Google to launch the Android N at the Google I/O 2016, as it has always unveiled its new Android versions in the annual conferences. Now that's still far away. So, what do you think "N" stands for, Nutella or Nectar or Nestle?? I'm pretty sure that won't be announced until the launch. Until then, Keep Guessing!!!
