The Indian Smartphone giant Micromax unveils its new Canvas
Tab P690 on 4th of this month, priced at Rs.8,999, an impressive
figure.The tablet will be for sale from 7th of june.

This Canvas Tab showcases an 8-inch HD 1280x 800 (189ppi) resolution with an IPS display.It is powered by 1.3Ghz quad-core Intel Atom processor paired with 1GB of RAM and weighs 318gms. The device runs on a preinstalled Android 4.4 Kitkat and can be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop which is on its way.

The device comes with an internal storage of 8GB and with a micro SD slot supporting upto 32GB.But only 3.81 GB is available for Apps storage.It sports an 5 Megapixel rear shooter and a 2 Megapixel front shooter. The camera includes the normal features such as Autofocus, Touchfocus, Face Detection, Scene Modes etc. There are various connectivity options namely 3G support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It is powered by a 4000 MAh non-removable battery expected to deliver 180 hrs of standby time. The device carries a single SIM slot.

There are many preloaded apps such as Amazon Kindle, App Center, Chaatz, Clean Master, Facebook & Facebook Messenger, Hello TV, MAD, Multitasking, News Hunt,Offer Guide, Opera Mini, PayTm, Quikr, Reverie Phonebook & Smartpad, Saavn, Swiftkey, true caller, WPS office, Quicklook, Angry birds GO coming with the Canvas Tab P690. Its also comes with Rs.3000 worth of free content namely 6 ebooks from Kindle, 3 months premium subscription to Saavn, 6 months premium subscription to Truecaller, 1 month subscription to Hello TV etc. The company is also giving away a free premium flip cover worth Rs.1500. As usual, it comes with a warranty of 1yr.
There are certain issues like low internal storage available for Apps storage. This device features an Intel processor but, a Snapdragon processor would’ve been much better. The battery capacity of 4000MAh might not be matching the requirements of an 8-inch device. Inspite of such issues, lets hope this device easily reaches out to the people and becomes a success.
