CES 2015 : Kodak announces its new smartphone Instamatic 5

The first smartphone with the Kodak brand is among us a photography company that gradually recovers financially announced on Tuesday (6) during CES 2015. The Instamatic 5 is a device with intermediate hardware and 5 inch screen that are wanting to attract the photography fans. But, apparently, he brings nothing very new.

The smartphone is produced by the British company Bullitt, which licensed the Kodak brand for use on mobile devices. It focuses on simplicity and is probably not for you: the interface reminds that "easy mode" that Samsung and Sony put on their devices, with giant icons arranged in a grid.

There are some dire additions, as an "app store with apps dedicated handpicked", but Google Play was maintained. It runs Android 4.4.2, has promised to update the Lollipop and brings about changes in the camera application that lets you quickly edit photos and print them on compatible printers and services.

The camera, an important point in a smartphone that takes the Kodak brand, not impressed by the specifications: the rear has a 13 MP sensor and brings auto focus and flash, while the front has a resolution of 5 MP. There is no mention of optical image stabilization or backlit sensor, and the Bullitt does not highlight the photographic quality in his  official statement .

As for hardware, we have an octa-core processor MediaTek MT6592 clocked at 1.7 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB of storage (with microSD expansion ), 5 inches IPS LCD screen  with HD resolution and 2,150 mAh battery. The IM5 only supports 3G networks and weighs 120 grams. The new smartphone from Kodak will be sold from next month for $ 249 In Europe and the United States.
